At 11:30 AM, a unique and joyful experience awaits at the L.A. Arboretum: Goat Yoga. In this lighthearted, all-levels yoga class, participants can enjoy connecting with gentle goats under the guidance of a certified yoga instructor. The session offers an opportunity to tap into one’s “inner kid” through a series of playful, yet challenging, yoga postures. Whether you’re a complete beginner “just there for the goats” or an experienced yogi looking for a fun twist on traditional practice, this session caters to everyone.
The stars of the show are the Nigerian Dwarf goats, whose playful interactions will deepen your stretch, strengthen your core, and bring a smile to your face. These friendly animals will weave their way through the class, climbing, trotting, and even jumping on participants, turning the yoga mat into a dynamic playground. Each pose becomes a chance to connect with these curious, joyful creatures in an experience that’s both physically rewarding and mentally uplifting.
This is not your typical yoga class. Participants are encouraged to bring their love for animals and a sense of humor, as the goats will undoubtedly provide plenty of light-hearted moments.
What Your Goat Yoga Ticket Includes:
- A yoga session taught by a certified instructor.
- Time to pet, play, and take photos with the goats.
- All-day admission to the L.A. Arboretum, where you can explore 127 acres of gardens, natural landscapes, wildlife, and historic structures.
After the class, participants can also enjoy a meal at the Peacock Cafe, conveniently located in the park.
Before You Go(at):
To ensure a smooth experience, it’s recommended to wear clothing that protects your skin, just in case a goat decides to hop on your back during practice. Hoodies, hats, and hair ties are useful for those who prefer to avoid playful nibbles from the goats. It’s also best to remove loose jewelry and bring water to stay hydrated.
Participants should be aware that the goats, being vegan, are prone to leaving small, dry droppings that are virtually scent-free. Some consider these “blessings” to be good luck, and a playful suggestion is to buy a lottery ticket if you’re “blessed” by a goat during the session! Sanitizer and disinfectant will be available to clean up any goat-related messes. For those who prefer their mats intact, it’s suggested to bring a towel or rent a sanitized yoga mat for a small fee.
Before participating, attendees will be required to sign a release of liability, and minors must be accompanied by an adult with a signed waiver.
About the Organizer:
The Goat Yoga experience is brought to you by Michelle Tritten, whose passion for pet goats began in the 1980s and for yoga in the 1990s. It wasn’t until Earth Day 2017 that these two passions converged in the form of Goat Yoga. Since then, Michelle and her playful herd have been traveling across the greater Los Angeles area, bringing joy and laughter wherever they go. The Hello Critter goats have been featured in several notable locations, including the L.A. Arboretum, The Gamble House, and UCLA, offering a variety of activities such as sound baths, hikes, creative workshops, and visits to senior communities.
Each goat has a unique personality, from the adventurous Roscoe to the curious Lil’bit. Michelle ensures that her goats are healthy, happy, and well-loved, treating them as family members. For more information about Michelle and her goats, visit Hello Critter’s website.
Whether you’re there to deepen your yoga practice, play with the goats, or simply enjoy a day out in nature, Goat Yoga at the L.A. Arboretum promises to be a memorable and uplifting experience.
