9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: What is Trauma? Event + impact. Relevancy of the 3-phase trauma model

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM: 3 core principles of polyvagal theory: Hierarchy, neuroception & co-regulation

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Recognizing survival states within clients

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: The importance of regulation as safety

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Safety techniques, disconnection inventory & ‘tricky trauma’-situations

About this Event: This 7-hour training dives deep into the 3-phase trauma model, connecting it to polyvagal theory. Participants will gain insights into recognizing survival states in clients, tools for increasing therapeutic safety, and practical applications. The event is suitable for both student and qualified counselors, psychotherapists, as well as related professions. It serves as a standalone training day or the first day of the NCPS Quality Checked 10-day Foundation Diploma – Therapeutic Safety in Trauma, taught completely online.

About the Trainer: Maaike Beech is an MBACP Accredited, MNCPS Senior Accredited, and EMDR UK/ Europe Accredited counselor, psychotherapist, and trauma specialist. With over 16 years of experience, she has trained in various trauma modalities and works as a Clinical Lead for the Children’s Society. Maaike is the Director of The Beech Practice Ltd., offering clinical supervision and trauma-informed training.
