This advanced prenatal yoga teacher training is designed for those who have completed a 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and are eager to expand their knowledge. Emphasizing that pregnancy is not an injury, this training seeks to dismantle fears surrounding pregnancy and birth, focusing instead on how to empower students in their practice. Rather than asking, “What poses can’t they do?” the training encourages the question, “How can they do the pose?”

Over two weekends, participants will delve deeply into prenatal and postpartum yoga practices, examining the physical and emotional transformations that occur during and after pregnancy. The second weekend will focus particularly on postpartum anatomy, especially the core and pelvic floor, exploring how pregnancy and childbirth impact the body from a movement perspective.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Yoga postures that alleviate common discomforts during pregnancy
  • Cultural context and history of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in the U.S.
  • Understanding the physical and emotional journey of pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum
  • Detailed anatomy of the core and pelvic floor in relation to yoga practice
  • Modifications and adjustments for yoga asanas to address pregnancy-related issues like sciatica, pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti, pubic symphysis dysfunction, and carpal tunnel
  • Principles of creating space, stabilization, and body awareness in prenatal and postpartum yoga practice
