Event Type
The Insula Collective is proud to offer mental health support groups designed specifically for the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community, recognizing the rich diversity of ethnic backgrounds within it. These intimate, 1.5-hour sessions are carefully curated to provide a safe and inclusive space for participants to connect, share experiences, and uplift one another.
Each session begins with a check-in, allowing attendees to express their current thoughts and emotions. Ground rules are established at the outset to ensure the space remains respectful and supportive for all. Discussions focus on specific topics, guided by questions and prompts that encourage deeper reflection on shared experiences. This open dialogue fosters connection and understanding, building a strong sense of community.
As the session progresses, participants are led through a positive closing ritual that includes affirmations, highlighting the strength and solidarity found in shared stories. A poetry reading is incorporated, embracing the healing power of artistic expression. The session concludes with a commitment to action, motivating participants to take meaningful steps toward personal growth and continued support for the community.
Important Information: Please note that the support group has transitioned from a pay-what-you-can donation model to a sliding scale to ensure sustainability and growth. Because space is limited, it’s important to honor your commitment once registered. Beginning August 1st, participants who do not cancel their RSVP in advance and fail to attend will be charged according to their selected tier, and refunds will not be provided. Donations go toward covering costs for the venue, Junior High, facilitator compensation, and other group expenses.
For any issues with refunds, please visit Eventbrite or contact insulacollective@gmail.com with the subject line “Ticket Cancellation (Date of Group)” and include your full name.
This support group offers a valuable opportunity for the BIPOC community to find strength and healing through shared stories, artistic expression, and actionable growth.
